Position Summary: The Teacher assists the Center Director, and Head Teacher, and assumes responsibility for general supervision, development and education of children.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assists in planning, preparing and implementing daily programs in the classroom.
- Assists in planning and preparing the learning environment, preparing all needed materials and supplies.
- Performs primary caregiving responsibilities in the classroom.
- Utilize classroom materials and routines to promote an environment conducive to age appropriate level of development and interests of children in the classroom.
- Ensure that necessary paperwork is completed in a timely manner
- Assists in maintaining the environment in a clean, safe manner.
- Always works collaboratively with the Center Director, Head Teacher and all other center staff.
- Assumes general responsibility for the health, safety, and well-being of all children in the program.
- Attends meetings as requested.
- Knowledge of early childhood education, child development and classroom best practices.
- Participates in activities that further own professional growth.
- Maintains confidentiality of all children, families and employees.
- Works as a member of the agency team by promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.
- Greets all children, parents, staff, and guests as needed in a professional manner.
- Assists other staff members when requested or as needed.
- All other duties as assigned by Head Teacher, Center Director or other program administrators.
Position Qualifications/Requirements:
- Possess an unexpired Associate teacher or teacher permit from the Department of Education or academic transcripts that show 12 completed core Early Childhood Development units completed.
- 1 year prior experience working with young children is preferred.
- Must have 20 units to be a Teacher, including Infant/Toddler units.
- Immunization records that comply with Senate Bill 792 (immunity for measles, pertussis, rubella and influenza).
- Required to be a mandated reporter and complete the AB approved Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Certificated upon hire and updated every 2 years as needed.
- 16 hours of health and safety training which includes 1 hour of nutrition training.
- Valid Pediatric/Adult CPR and First Aid certification
- Bilingual English/Spanish required
