Teacher

Position Summary: The Teacher assists the Center Director, and Head Teacher,  and assumes responsibility for general supervision, development and education of children.

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Assists in planning, preparing and implementing daily programs in the classroom.
  • Assists in planning and preparing the learning environment, preparing all needed materials and supplies.
  • Performs primary caregiving responsibilities in the classroom.
  • Utilize classroom materials and routines to promote an environment conducive to age appropriate level of development and interests of children in the classroom.
  • Ensure that necessary paperwork is completed in a timely manner
  • Assists in maintaining the environment in a clean, safe manner.
  • Always works collaboratively with the Center Director, Head Teacher and all other center staff. 
  • Assumes general responsibility for the health, safety, and well-being of all children in the program.
  • Attends meetings as requested.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education, child development and classroom best practices.
  • Participates in activities that further own professional growth.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all children, families and employees.
  • Works as a member of the agency team by promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.
  • Greets all children, parents, staff, and guests as needed in a professional manner.
  • Assists other staff members when requested or as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned by Head Teacher, Center Director or other program administrators.

 

Position Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Possess an unexpired Associate teacher or teacher permit from the Department of Education or academic transcripts that show 12 completed core Early Childhood Development units completed.
  • 1 year prior experience working with young children is preferred.
  • Must have 20 units to be a Teacher, including Infant/Toddler units.
  • Immunization records that comply with Senate Bill 792 (immunity for measles, pertussis, rubella and influenza).
  • Required to be a mandated reporter and complete the AB      approved Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Certificated upon hire and updated every 2 years as needed.
  • 16 hours of health and safety training which includes 1 hour of nutrition training.
  • Valid Pediatric/Adult CPR and First Aid certification 
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required

 

Head Teacher

Position Summary: Assumes responsibility for general supervision, development and education of children. Supervises 1 age group of children and up to 8 staff within that group (ie: toddlers, preschool or school age). 

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Assumes all duties of the Teachers, Assistant teachers as needed.
  • Assists curriculum manager with planning, preparing and implementing daily program in classrooms.
  • Reviews scheduling of all staff within designated group. Schedules and regulates staff working hours according to child/teacher ratios and site needs. Including staff breaks, lunches and staff call outs.
  • Supports Center Director with staff performance reviews and professional growth plans. 
  • Responsible for meeting all licensing regulations, agency policies and agency procedures. 
  •  Updated records onsite including but not limited to (enrollment updates, daily attendance, diaper logs, parent reminders for classroom curriculum, child observations) as needed.
  • Assists Center Director in the following areas: enrollment, supervision of staff, conducting site meetings, staff development trainings, and other areas as assigned. 
  •  Assists with quarterly Health and Safety Checklist and following up with maintenance requests in a timely manner.
  • Provides a pleasant, safe and clean learning environment for children.
  • Provides Center Director with monthly inventory requests for all classroom supplies and needs.

School Requirements

 

Company Wide Job Requirements:

  • Must pass a health screening and TB Test.
  • Must pass background fingerprint clearance.
  • Valid Driver’s License or state issued Identification Card
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • The ability to lift 30 lbs may be needed during the course of the work day.
  • The employee will be required to use computers as needed to complete work tasks and may be asked to answer the phone.

Job duties will be performed in a school environment and the physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job.

  • This role will require long periods of standing and walking.
  • The ability to lift, push, carry, and/or move up to 30lbs.
